I believe that this is a wonderful leader since he is helping children....

This man should have won this year's Nobel peace prize. The LifeStraw has potential to improve the quality of life for millions of people around the world. Bringing needed resources to those who have little is the best way to bring about world peace.

We need to look at this with a much more critical eye. The vast majority of deaths due to water borne illnesses are among children under 5. LifeStraw does *nothing* for precisely the children who are most affected. I strongly believe in the appropriate technology movement, but good designs must be critically evaluated.

Vestergaard mentions that the LifeStraw is only $3, yet a Google search seems to reveal only one source for it...at $14.95 (£7.50) from waterstraw.com. Hopefully that will come down in (retail) price.

If the claim made on its ability to filter even salt water on gizmag.com is accurate, I'd like to see this potentially life saving gadget on all life boats (http://www.gizmag.com/go/4418/4/). We'll know this unit has taken off when the military buys a bazillion units ;)

It a good start to helping the issue of unclean water for other parts of the world. Its a shame when we have so much water on this planet, and we still have issues like this.

Here's hoping that we all a bright future where people like this keep putting thier power into thinking for tommorow.

If the Lifestraw actually works, it will be a extraordinary advancement and gift to humanity

Very short on visuals and technical info, which becomes suspicious.

This could be such a huge thing, i hope they sell one to everyone in the world who can afford one, and give two away to everyone who can not.

Water is yet one more thing we take for granted, its sad we do not realize how others really live and accept some responsibility for making the world a better place. I love his attitude.

Great things come to those who give unselfishly. This world is what we all have in common.
